Vision Critical

Director, Content Marketing

Job Location CA-ON-Toronto | CA-BC-Vancouver
Regular Full-Time

Who are we looking for?

As director of content marketing, you have the opportunity to shape the corporate narrative for a one of the fastest-growing and most innovative SaaS companies in Canada. You will collaborate with key internal stakeholders, including the members of the executive team, to develop a content strategy and deliver a content program designed to increase brand awareness, engage customers and prospects, and position Vision Critical as a thought leader in the customer intelligence space.

As a strategically-minded content marketer, you will be part of the marketing leadership team and an active contributor in discussions regarding marketing strategy, campaigns and demand generation. We want someone who has the experience, vision and creativity to elevate our content marketing program to the next level and the writing chops to roll up their sleeves to ensure flawless execution.

To be successful, you must be results oriented with strong opinions rooted in data and experience. You will need to be flexible, willing to embrace new ideas and engage in healthy debate. We are looking for a content marketing leader who is comfortable being accountable to the quantitative results of the content marketing program.

What would you do in this role?

  • Develop a content strategy that helps us achieve our marketing and company objectives. Identify new opportunities for us to explore where content can be the key driver of success.
    • Oversee the execution and success of our content strategy—including thought leadership initiatives, content creation, and social media.
    • Lead the development of content across all of our channels, including the production of PowerPoint presentations, web copy, customer stories, email campaigns, e-books, videos, blog posts, research reports, infographics, sales tools, online ads, etc.
    • Help ensure we have a consistent narrative that our executives, staff and customers can tell the world
    • Manage, coach and inspire your team of an internal content marketer (based in Vancouver) and your own roster of contract writers
    • Understand best practices in creating content to engage and grow subscribers to our blog and social media channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.)
    • Work closely with the demand marketing and marketing ops teams to report on the performance of the content program and use that insight to make strategic marketing decisions
    • Establish and manage an editorial calendar and content development workflow. You must be able to accurately estimate (and hit!) delivery dates without under or overestimating workload capacity for your team
    • Develop corporate messaging guidelines to enable other internal stakeholders to write within the Vision Critical brand voice and tone

How can you make an impact?

You lead the development of the corporate narrative for a global SaaS company to ensure we are telling a consistent and compelling story that connects all our messaging from our website to sales presentations to thought leadership content. The content marketing team will play a key role in our ABM program—creating enough of the right content for our named accounts to discover, binge read and self-qualify.

Why should you apply?

  • Play an integral part in the growth of one of the fastest growing software companies in Canada
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including executives, sales leaders, regional marketing teams, Fortune 500 customers and influencers on the content and messaging for high-profile campaigns and events
  • Elevate the people around you and work on challenging, interesting projects that have a direct impact on corporate KPIs

  • You’re a gifted writer with big ideas. You are passionate about content marketing and have more ideas than you have hours in the day to build them.
  • With 8+ years of experience in the tech industry (B2B preferred), you have a track record of creating awesome content strategies and can speak to the impact they had on the goals and objectives of the company.
  • You are a strong communicator (verbal, written and presentation skills) and are comfortable interacting with executives and customers
  • You have exceptional project and people management skills. Experience managing a budget is a plus.
  • You are highly detail oriented and have solid substantive editing and copy-editing skills.
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications or equivalent working experience
  • Experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, Slideshare and the top social channels is a plus
  • Some travel will be required
